WOMEN’S CRICKET
Western gained an outright win over Hagley when a series of one day games was held in the Christchurch women's cricket competition on Saturday. The second senior game between the two St Albans teams in the competition ended in a draw. The top score of the day came from S. Rattray iSt Albans 11) ;who compiled 72. and the bowl-J ing honours went to K. Marsh J (Western) with seven wickets for 15 runs. In the junior grade. S. Roberts' i Mai Moa) made 96, and L. Shankland (St Albans Illi batted 1 stylishly and showed promise. S. | Russell (Cashmere) with the out.standing double of five wickets 'for eight runs and five for two had the best bowling perform-! ance in the junior grade. Results were:— Senior St Albans II 135 (S. Rattrav 72. S. Masters 48; J. Ryan 3/32) drew with St Albans I 103/2 (J. Stead I 46 not out, J. Lawn 45). Western 57/0 declared (S. ; I Cowles 23 not out, E. Rouse 31 not out) and 27/1 beat Hagley 46 > iC. Foote 23; J. Olsen 4/6, K. ' Marsh 3/29. H. Warren 3/10) and ■ 26 (Olsen 3/9, Marsh 7/15), outII right. J Junior . i Cashmere 106/4 declared (S.i ■ Russell 35, A. Dempsey 35) beat; jSt Albans 35 (Russell 5/8. S. j .
