Bible Society spending up
While most Christian missions had been forced to curtail their spending this year, the income of the Bible Society in New Zealand had increased’ by 11 per cent, the Rev. D. Cohen, the society’s general secretary, said at the annual meeting of the Can-terbury-Westland branch yesterday. Mr Cohen said the increase could be traced to a greater interest in the work of the society.
This year a national total of $220,000 had been made available for the publication and distribution of Gospel literature. Of this the Canterbury branch had given $20,000 in local collections and gifts—a 5 per cent increase on last year’s figures. Donations to special projects were up by 50 per cent, and total income for the year was $31,827.
