March-out parade

The march-out parade of the twenty-ninth intake of the National Service Training Unit was held at Burnham Military Camp yesterday. More than 7000 were present for the parade, which was reviewed by the Mayor of Lyttelton (Mr J. B. Collett). Also present was the commanding officer of the National Service Training Unit (Major B. S. Dyer). Static displays of arms and equipment preceded the parade, and after it, a mobile display of vehicle ambushes, casualty evacuation, and machine-gun, mortar, and field-artillery firing was presented.

Helicopters also demonstrated their capabilities, but a parachute drop was cancelled because of the strong wind.
