Bob Hope criticised

The comedian, Bob Hope, who has spoken out increasingly on politics during the last few years, is now running into the problem all politicians eventually faceopposition.

An actress. Jane Fonda, recently spoke against Hope’s annual Christmas tour of American bases in Vietnam as being "pro-war.” She also accused Hope of making money out of the war by playing the shows later on television—a charge that Hope vigorously denies. Hope was also upset when a decision to award him an honorary doctorate of San [Fernando Valley State College, north of Los Angeles, [was criticised by radical stuI dents. Asked about the student [criticism in an interview, he (said: “I found it surprising, because I have received 19 honorary degrees from very wonderful colleges and universities around the country and this is the first time in my career that I ever had any criticism.” He said that the criticism was based on a misquotation in a national newsmagazine, which had him describing the Vietnam war as “beautiful.” The criticism has not deterred Hope. “I still intend speaking my views,” he says.
