COALFIELDS DRILLING

(From Our Own Reporter)

GREYMOUTH, Nov. 25. The boring of a 3000 ft hole in the north slope of Mount Davy in the Grey coalfield for the Ataka Company, of Japan, is to start tomorrow, according to a senior official of the company, Mr K. Harada. The first bore is expected to take about 20 days to put down. The second of three holes will then be bored on the south slope of the mountain.

Mr Harada arrived in Greymouth yesterday from his company’s Tauranga office and will stay in the drilling area, camping with the drilling rig crew of Longyear (N.Z.), Ltd, and carrying out investigations with a representative of the Japan Overseas Coking Coal Development Company, Mr K. Mori.
