The Disturbed Children’s Aid movement on Thursday evening called a meeting to form the Friends of the McKenzie School, a residential school for emotionally disturbed children.
The purpose of the newlyformed group will be to coordinate voluntary aid given to the Department of Education’s school in Yaldhurst Road. Twenty-five children attend.
A recreation hall was proI vided for the school from I money raised through the : annual students’ charities ; appeal. Mr B. F. O’Connor, president of the Disturbed Children’s Aid movement, said yesterday that one of the first projects the Friends of the McKenzie School would be the raising of funds for a swimming pool. The steering committee elected was: Mrs K. Speedy (secretary), Mesdames D. Main, E. J. Price, M. Weflsford, C. Williams, V. M. Watereus, Misses C. Clapham, M. Northcote, Messrs R. Bailey, G. Collins.
