“Marcus Welby” likes his role
(N Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 25. The film and television actor Robert Young almost blushes when he says: “I don’t watch much TV.” ;
Tall, urbane and every inch the general practitioner, as is his role in the TV series, “Marcus Welby, M.D.,” he admits to being an early - to - bed, particularly when he’s shooting episodes in the series. Mr Young (64), arrived in Auckland with his wife today in the cruise ship Monterey on his way to England, by way of Sydney. He was to shoot a picture, but is now on a holiday, as the script for the film has not been finished. Then he will go back to the United States to begin the fourth series of “Welby”’ on April 1. In films the stars he has partnered included Helen Hayes, Greta Garbo, Katharine Hepburn, Jean Harlow and Myrna Loy. He is particularly satisfied with the “Welby” series. Welby, he says, is an interesting character in that he becomes involved in people’s lives. He gets tangled with them, far more so than the
