Talent quest

AUCKLAND, Nov. 24

Abe Phillips, a freezing worker, of Hawke’s Bay, tonight won the Schweppes 1971 talent contest.

He was selected from eight finalists who were judged at the Thunderbird Valley Inn iat Glenfield.

Mr Phillips was awarded $lOOO prize-money for winding the grand final as well as $lOO for winning the Auckland area finals. Second place was awarded to Mrs Puti Rota, of Rotorua and third place to Mr Gary Lucre, of Maungatapere. More than 400 entries were received in the contest, including some from as far south as Dunedin.
