(N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL. The Christchurch pilot, S. H. Georgeson, making his third attempt to achieve a world distance gliding record, had to return to Five Rivers after four hours and a half in the air yesterday. Georgeson, flying a Kestrel glider, tried to find the right air waves to take him up to at least 12,000 ft, but was unsuccessful. “I could reach only 7000 ft,” he said. Georgeson Will have one more attempt at the record today, but if the weather is again unsuitable he will return to Christchurch.
