Horticulture awards
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 23. Messrs A. Famell, of Auckland, and L. Robinson, of Masterton, have been given 1971 awards by the plant raiser’s awards committee of the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture. Mr Famell’s award is for the raising of an all-doubles strain of gerbera, which the institute, in a supplied statement today, says is a “decided breakthrough” in gerbera culture. One Californian nurseryman alone required 25,000 seeds for next season. Mr Robinson's award was for raising the Cultivar Photinia “Rea Robin,” bred by him 10 years ago, which has made a great impact on horticulture, the institute says. Mr Robinson is now working on another form. Divorce decree.— Patricia Mary Newburn (Mr E. T. Higgins) was granted a decree nisi by Mr Justice Wilson in the Supreme Court yesterday on an undefended divorce petition against Roy Penman Newburn, a grocer, on the ground of a separation agreement
