PRIZES FOR FRENCH
Prizes were presented at Rangi-Ruru last evening to successful candidates in the recent Alliance Francaise oral French examinations,
Fifth, sixth and seventh i formers at Canterbury i secondary schools sat oral French examinations at the 1 University of Canterbury last 1 month. Junior prizewinners (third and fourth formers) were nominated from their own schools. Successful students in French at toe Unb versify of Canterbury also received prizes. The French Ambassador to New Zealand, Mr C, de Nicolay, who was to have spoken and presented the prizes, was unable to attend. ' The president of Alliance Francaise in Christchurch, Dr E, D. Jones, addressed ti» 1 students ip his stead and presented the prises, The cup to the school ' which gains the most points 1 in the oral French pompeti- I tian was won by RangiRuru. *
