ASSOCIATED CHAMBERS
Talks held with P.M.
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 9. Representatives of the New Zealand Associated Chambers of Commerce met the Prime Minister (Sir Keith Holyoake) this evening for what were described as general informal annual talks. The group, more than 30 strong, was led by its president, Mr J. P. Glenie (Auckland), and included members of the New Zealand executive of the Associated Chambers, representing their 52 constituent chambers throughout New Zealand. The topics to be discussed included reductions in company tax, the Hire Purchase Bill, mining clauses of the Land and Income Tax Bill, jurisdiction of the Ombudsman, forestry development, and the industrial situation —including the role of the State as a pace setter. The Deputy Prime Minister (Mr Marshall) and the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr Shelton) were also to attend tlje meeting.
