24 horses for America

Twenty-four horses, the majority of which have been waiting for up to 10 weeks, will travel from Auckland to the United States on Friday. Special permission for the flight was arranged with United States authorities by the New Zealand Government on behalf of Central Standardbred Agency, of Upper Hutt. The horses will travel in a Qantas Boeing 707 aircraft. “We thought we had arranged transport on five occasions, but each time American agents let m down,” said Mr B. E. Tommy Derby, Somerioc, John-Charles, and Stratton are fiielng consigned to the New York trainer, F, Popfinger, and Master Key will race In the interests of the West Melton trainer, J. S. Dalgety. Sam Again and Mischievous Mood are being . sent by the Komen trainer, D. N. Hayes. Mr A. Gubay, of Nandina Stud, Pukebohe, is sending Dlpkens, Mister Taptoes, Our Conga, and OwWiy. Mr Meale, the Cambridge trainer £. S. Hunter, and A. Perucieh. who is associated With Daigety*s team, Will travel with the horses.
