Silver Knight improving
"The Press" Special Service PALMERSTON NORTH. Sliver Knight, which ran a good race at Foxton, impressed at Awapuni yesterday morning when he continued his preparation for the Higgle Handicap at Wanganui on Saturday. The grey is improving rapidly, and although ta the past he has shown his best form on firm tracks, with age, he is gaining more strength and might easily handle the Wanganui footing. The ground was fair on the Inside trial, where most fast work took place, but was still very heavy 60ft from the rails on the course proper, where Silver Knight and Filament galloped over a mile. They were well on the bit to cover their first half-mile in 59 2-ssec, but were eased down to a canter prior to the winning post. On .the inside trial the Guineas candidate. Bounty, strode over seven furlongs ta Imip 38 Msec. He hit out very keenly ta the early stages, but was eased down to 44sec for the last three furlongs. Dalmulr, which is engaged ta the Debutante Stakes, was accompanied by Gay Paree over three furlongs ta 374ec. Mighty Merit, which is engaged ta the same race, finished clear of Golden Foam after running three furlongs ta the same time.
