The hack stayer. Royal Tuscan, returned the fastest time ta training at Wanganui yesterday. He was preparing for the Moutua Handicap when the Wanganui Jockey Club’s meeting continues on Saturday.
Working 35ft out on the soft course proper, Royal Tuscan held the two-year-olds La Dolee, Vita and Kowhai Park at bay at the finish of three furlongs ta 38Jsec. A New Plymouth visitor. Royal Tuscan rarely returns a poor performance at Wanganui. Of the Debutante Stakes runners, Trouper appealed the most A Henry’s Choice colt with K. A. Thomson, he ran three in 39 2-ssec.
Sulzu stretched out kindly to beat Twitchit by four lengths after six In Imln 22 2-ssec, the last three ta 40 l-ssec. The Guineas hope, Triple Shot, went strongly over a mile, running from the six in Imln 21 2-ssec, the last three in 40Jsec. His race-day rival, Ngapuke, was not asked to do her best over 10 furlongs. She came from the half ta 53sec. the last three taking 40 2-ssec. Goldy Giri, which has made rapid improvement with her first-day race, was finishing strongly at the end of a halfmile ta 54 4-Ssec, the last three taking 40 l-ssec.
