CHRISTINE DOWRICK, of Hokitika, who won the teg-dress contest at Haywrights last evening, is a self-taught dressmaker. Sewing is only a hobby. Aged 16, she is taking a university entrance course at Westland High School and intended to study science at university. Now, however, she thinks she may study home science. Her winning garment was a knickerbocker suit of gaily-patterned cotton in orange, lemon, dark green, and purple on a white background.
