SCHOOLS GOLF
Christchurch Boys’ High I School narrowly won the second* ary schools golf tournament' from Christ’s College in the* closest finish for many years yesterday. • Each school won three matches* and halved a fourth, but on a count-back of games, the Christchurch Boys’ High School team emerged the winner by the very' slender margin of only half tT game. In the morning round the" match between Timaru Boys’" High and Christ’s College was drawn, while the Christchurch Boys’ High team had a win over, Shirley Boys’ High. In the afternoon, Christchurch Boys man- > aged to halve with Timaru, but Shirley Boys’ High, although going down narrowly to Christ’s College, played excellent golf to. prevent the latter team from winning sufficient games to clinch the trophy. The top placing In the B grade went to Ashburton College, which was the only unbeaten team. < The golf during the two-das* tournament was of a good stan* dard.
