Third place in basketball
(N.Z. Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH. Panmure (Auckland) became the 1971 New Zealand indoor basketball champion when it beat Wellington, 70-50, in the final of the national invitation tournament in Palmerston North last night. Tn the play-off for third and fourth positions, Canterbury, which was beaten by Panmure in the semi-finals 93-75, beat NeU son, 103-79. Palmerston North took the fifth place when it beat Bay of Plenty, 83-62. Otagd ■ headed Hutt Valley for thd seventh position, 93-59.
