Seven hurt at Kaikoura

Seven persons were admitted to the Kaikoura Hospital last evening after a head-on collision between two cars travelling in opposite directions at Mangamaunu Point, 12 miles north of Kaikoura, at 7 p.m. Three of the injured, suffering from serious injuries, were transferred to Christchurch by a Kaikoura St John ambulance which left Kaikoura shortly after 9.30 p.m. The driver of one of the cars, Patrick Maunsell, of 42 Beven Road, Blenheim, is one of the injured being transferred to Christchurch. He has a fractured thigh and other injuries which were described as moderate to serious.

The driver of the other car was Paul Campbell, of Christchurch. The names of the other persons injured in the accident were not known by the Kaikoura police late last night.
