The cancellation of the French nuclear tests in the Pacific meant it was time for the revival of the concept of a nuclear-free Southern Hemisphere, the secretary of the New Zealand Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament’s Hamilton branch (Dr R. H. Locker) said yesterday. The idea, from the Australian Labour Party, had gained a large following in New Zealand in 1961, said Dr Locker.
