Pakistan refugee relief
Sir, —The “job day” on August 21 organised by the Pakistan Refugee Relief Fund Committee was an encouraging success. The 143 volunteer workers of Thai, Vietnamese, Singaporean, and Malaysian students, with some effort, were able to cope with the jobs offered, which ran to over 160. A total of $620 was earned, which includes some cash donations from well-wishers. Many people paid generously, not in accordance with the value of the work performed. The committee apologises for any inconvenience caused to some , people whose late offers could not be met because of our overloaded schedule. To all the people who toiled that day, to all who answered our call for jobs, and also to those who supported our campaign in one way or another, the committee extends its thanks and appreciation. We sincerely hope that another pleasant result has been some fostering of international good will. —Yours, etc., NGIAN NOH KING. August 30, 1971.
