Degrees in business

i Sir, —Mr Stewart, the president of the Canterbury - Sales and Marketing Executives’ Association, has some good reasons for the incluI sion of a business adminis- - tration course at university, , without going further and : suggesting it take the place of “the bachelor of arts ■ degree, which has no use in ’ earning a living in today’s

business world.” Today, more than ever before, we need B.A. students who, despite the poor job and money prospects and the jibes from sectors in the world of finance, will learn for learning’s sake to become more understanding and wise humans. These B.A.s are the ones who will have the qualities and qualifications to use science and business, and not be used.—Yours, etc., J.P.A. August 31, 1971.
