Sloane (Nat., Hobson) that ’ two single male teachers be allowed to live in a female, teachers’ hostel in order to stop prowlers, was received with surprise by Auckland Education Board members. Mabbett, who was then reminded that the board was not in committee. “Mr Sloane is well known for his tongue-in-cheek remarks,” replied Mr Mabbett.
