BOY AWAITS SENTENCE

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, Aug. 6.

A schoolboy, aged 14, appeared in the Sydney Central Criminal Court this week on a charge of murder. Described by the judge as probably the youngest person to face such a charge in New South Wales, the boy could hardly be seen in the dock.

Kenneth Arthur Workman pleaded not guilty to murdering Greta Anne Exner, aged 10, at Blacktown in January, but guilty to an alternative charge of manslaughter, and the lesser plea was accepted by the prosecution. The prosecution alleged that Workman struck the girl several times over the head with an iron bar in the grounds of a public school. He was remanded for sentence in the care of the Child Welfare Department.
