MARKS FOR THIEVES
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 22. A security firm is about to introduce a new cash - container that soaks the contents with an indelible dye if anyone tries to break in.
The container, a British device about the size of a briefcase, has pressurised dye bottles built into the walls that flash-flood the money compartment at any attempt to open it improperly. People using the container will be urged to hand it over to thieves without a fight. The New Zealand manager of Armoured Freightways (Mr D. Major) said his firm had completed market surveys, costing and other details and was waiting for the Customs Department to say how many could be imported. It is proposed to lease the containers to users.
And those dye-soaked notes?—The security firm says it will replace them if the case is stolen and subsequently found opened with the contents covered in the blue-black dye.
