N.Z. three-day horse trials

(N.Z. Press Association)

, AUCKLAND. I The Auckland area of the New Zealand Horse Society I will hold a national three-day I horse trials at Pukekohe racecourse on October 8,9, and

This will be only the second three-day event held in New Zealand, but it is expected to become an annua! fixture and ultimately to lead to Olympic representation, probably in Canada in 1976. The three-dav event is one of the most demanding and gruelling equestrian competitions in the world and, as such, is considered to be ideally suited to New Zealand’s horses and riders.

It consists of a dressage phase and endurance section comorising steelolechasing, roads, and tracks, crosscountry, and finally a showjumping phase. A great deal of interest has already been shown by potential competitors in many parts of the country.
