Champions for N.Z. titles
The New Zealand badminton championships, to be held at the Skellerup Hall, from September 7 to 11, has already attracted at least two national men’s singles champions.
The Australian champion, R.l Livingston, who will be playing; against Southland tills evening i as a member of the touring Aus ! tralian team in New Zealand for the Whyte Trophy test match at Auckland later this month, has decided to remain in the Dominion after the tour is completed in an effort to improve his badminton.
Livingston will play in various tournaments throughout New Zealand before returning to Christchurch for the national championships, where he may; again play against the New Zealand champion during the last few seasons, R. H. Purser (Taranaki).
Fencing.—The defending champions, Russia, won the gold medal In the women’s team foil by beating Hungary in the final at the world fencing championships in Vienna.
