FARMERS AGREE

iN.Z P A.-Reuter —Copyright!

LONDON, July 16

Britain’s farmers have approved the agricultural terms offered as part of the deal for Britain’s entry into the Common Market.

The only reservation expressed at a crowded meeting of the National Farmers* Union in London was that their backing was dependent on the fulfilment of all the assurances given to the farming industry by the Government in its White Paper on the entry terms.

A statement by the union said that the arrangements made, and the assurances

given, should provide British producers with opportunities to increase their production and incomes. It added: “Perhaps the most important factor has been the conclusion that risks for British agriculture and horticulture in a Britain outside the Market would be as great as, if not greater than, those arising from membership of an enlarged Community.”
