GAMES FUND APPEAL

A sum of $4OOO raised by a “Polar Plunge ’7l” and “Fashion Fun ’7l” in Wanganui is among major contributions received for the Christchurch Commonwealth Games appeal, funds for which now stand at $193,643.50.

The seventh list announced by the appeal committee shows contributions and promises of more than $5OO amounting to $18,710, taking the total in that section of the appeal to $177,635. Amounts under $5OO received now total $16,008.50. Contributions and promises of more than $5OO have been received from: Lichfield (N.Z.), Ltd, $1000; Hastings City Council, $750; Canter-Bye-Products Company, $500; Cyclone Industries (N.Z.), Ltd, $500; Reese Brothers, Ltd, $500; Ashby Bergh, Ltd, $500; Blaxhall and Steven, Ltd, $500; Pharmacy Wholesalers (5.1.), Ltd, $500; Wellington Harbour Board, $1000; New Zealand Bowling Association, $1000; Mating and Company, Ltd, $500; Paynter and Hamilton, Ltd, $750; Wakefield Metal Company, Ltd, $1000; Bay of Plenty Harbour Board, $600; Alliance Textiles (N.Z.), Ltd, $1000; Mutual Rental Cars,. Ltd, $500; Hervey Motors, Ltd, $510; Wanganui Polar Plunge ’7l and Fashion Fun ”71, $4000; Whangarei City Council, $600; New Zealand Refrigerating Company, Ltd, $2500.
