American aid to Greece

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright)

WASHINGTON, July 15.

By a surprisingly close vote 14 to 12 the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee yesterday refused to cut off all United States military and economic aid to Greece.

The committee rejected an amendment to the Foreign Aid Act proposed by the Ohio Democrat, Mr Wayne Hays. It asked for the termination of all assistance to Greece unless the President felt that continuation of it was necessary to the national security of the United States.
