Massacre in Laos

Sir,—Tucked away in the bottom left-hand comer of the overseas news page of your issue of July 15 is an article on the massacre of Laotian civilians by North Vietnamese soldiers: 51 charrod and mutilated bodies strewn around the village of Photi Bia. Why has this not received the headline treatment'accorded the My Lai massacre? Are the soldiers responsible being charged With murder, or is. there even an investigation? Not on your Nelly. When we crave equality for all men, why are Americans: murders and North Vietnamese not? Yours, etc., JOHN STOREY. July 15, 1971. [Two reasons: the report has yet to be confirmed; even if it is verified in detail the incident, as we have said on many occasions, will be only one of many such atrocities committed by the Communist forces.—Ed., "The Press.”]
