Weak tone on N.Z. sharemarket
The tone of the New Zealand sharejnarket was a little weaker yesterday in more active trading. Most of the leaders were lower in price, but losses were small. '• 3
H.B. Motors stood out among the list of rises with a 20c gain to 160 c. Christchurch Gas, at 85c, Sharland, at 200 c. and U.S.S. preference gained 5c each, while L.W.R. rose 3c to 158 c, and the contributing shares jumped 5c to 75c. Ballins and New Zealand Breweries were firm. Falls were widespread but margined among the leaders. Most of them were'2c lower,

including Alax Hafvey, Forests, New Zealand Insurance, and New Zealand News. Trans Holdings slipped 2c lower to 113 c, while Waitaki, and Winstone lost the same amount. Republic lost 5c to 35c.
