Vietnamese 3, Linwood A 1 When Linwood scored three early points, an upset win to it looked a distinct possibility.

However, the Vietnamese dominated the first set after the opening minute and won it. 19-4. Linwood similarly had a handy lead in the second set but slumped from 10-8 advantage to a 10-16 deficit and eventually lost 11-17.

University A 4, Smash 0 At times very good, otherwise hesitant, University was a little fortunate to beat Smash without dropping a set. Certainly, if it had played as it did in the second set, won 19-5, Smash would not have been in the game. But University, which won the, first set. 15-10, was lucky tdk clinch the match in the third,' 14-12. But a tactical substitution by G. Tritt, bringing back N. Hall when it was 12-12, and Smash serving, saved the set. 4 . The greater power and better blocking by University carried it through Smashes cunning, and it. won the fourth set. 13-7. Linwood B 2, University Bl’ This was a rather scrappy, match between two even teams, but interest was increased by the closeness of the scores. University always appeared to. have a slight edge, and this wae borne out by its 16-9 and 14-5 winning margins in the first two Linwood fought back doggedly to take the other sets bynarrow margins—12-9 and 11-7 to draw the match.
