FIRST FIRST-DAY COVER.—To commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of Northern Ireland as an independent State, the Government in Ulster has entered the philatelic field. The commemorative stamps are copies of paintings by Northern Ireland artists, and all have a delicate colour in the original. The artists represented in the stamps received by a Christchurch resident are Middleton, Tom Carr, and T. D. Flanagan.
