KAIAPOI H.S.

Only 45 pupils

so far

Kaiapoi’s new co-educa-tional high school will open next February. It will cater eventually for 700 pupils, but with only a week left before enrolments close only 45 applications have been made.

This was noted at a meeting of the interim board of governors of the Kaiapoi High School last evening. Enrolments are being handled by the Christchurch Secondary Schools Council. Twenty-eight have been in the general course in form three and 17 in the academic course. The initial roll is expected to be about 160, drawn mostly from Kaiapoi and Belfast.

A headmaster will be appointed before the August holidays and discussions will be held after that on uniforms and other matters.
