NEW AIR ROUTE
Melbourne’s aid sought
Melbourne’s support will be sought for a North Pacific air service with Melbourne and Christchurch Airports on the route-
The City Council approved the approach last evening after the airport committee had said it thought the time was opportune to seek an ■ extension of Christchurch’s present international; air services. “No doubt the matter of expanding current services or Introducing new routes receive the constant attention of airline companies, but it is considered that if Christchurch makes its views known to the airlines this should help them in their planning,” the committee said.
Letters will be sent to Air New Zealand and the Lord Mayor of Melbourne, with copies to the Minister of Transport (Mr Gordon).
