(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) PHILADELPHIA, June 21. Home-sewing has caught on in the United States, feeding one’ of the fastest growing businesses in the country. An estimated 45m Americans of both sexes now sew. their own clothes, and last year two out of every five women and children wore some home-made clothes, surveys here show. Sales of patterns, fabrics, and sewing machines reached $3,000m last year, double the sewing industry’s total turnover in 1963.
