Prison term for solicitor
(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, June 20. A sentence of three years and a half imprisonment was imposed on a former solicitor fr °m Tauranga, Brian Kenneth Burton, when he apP®“’ ed before Mr Justice white in the Dunedin Supreme Court on 13 charges of misappropriation of funds involving $31,757. Burton, aged 32, an adjudged bankrupt, had pleaded guilty to the offences at a Magistrate’s Court hearing in Dunedin on May 19. The charges were seven offences of. failing to account and six of theft. Two of the offences, involving $l9OO, were committed while Burton was a partner in the company of Murray, Dillon, Gooch and Burton at Tauranga in 1968, and the others while Burton was in practice on his own account at Mount Maunganui. Burton was represented by Mr R. J. Gilbert. Mr W. F. Thomson appeared for the Crown.
