‘NEVER SO SLOW’
Christchurch motorists had 1 never been slower to renew ( their driving licences than they had been this year, the chief clerk of the city division of the Ministry of Transport (Mr H. Turner) said yesterday. With just 10 working days left until licences expire, nearly 20,000 of the 35,000 Qiristchurch drivers due to renew their licences have yet to do anything about it “This is in spite of advertisements and pleas in the newspapers,” Mr Turner said. “The ironic thing is that these people will come in at the last moment and complain because they have to join queues—but the renewal facilities have been here for the last two i months.” ' Mr Turner said the : renewals office in the Ministry’s Manchester Street , building, next to the carpark, would remain open I until 8 p.m. on Friday, June ' 18, Friday, June 25, and I Wednesday, June 30. ) Motorists could also renew ) their licences by post. ) Drivers aged over 70 had I been very good about bookImg in for their tests this I year, Mr Turner said. All of I June was now booked fully I for over-70 tests save for the ) last two days of the month.
