HISTORY OF FINE WEATHER

The history of fine weather for Canterbury v. British Isles Rugby matches should be maintained on Saturday.

The Meteorological Office at Christchurch Airport said yesterday that the pre* sent conditions should continue: cold in the mornings and sunny in the late mornings and afternoons.

There was a heavy frost, followed by fine, sunny conditions in 1966. On the two previous Lions tours, 1959 and 1950, some rain fell before the matches, but both were played in pleasant conditions.

The weather was even more balmly in 1930: sunny, even a little haze, with a light easterly wind.
