Shock result in tennis
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON. G. Masters (Queensland) produced a shock result in the Rothmans South of England open lawn tennis championships at Eastbourne.
Masters, who is 20, outplayed the second seed, R. Hewitt (South Africa) 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, to give himself a fine
pre-Wimbledon boost his first attempt at the top event. Hewitt began badly, losing the first three games, and also being warned by the umpire after an argument with a line judge.
He recovered some of his poise to take the second set, and then, after trailing 1-4 in the third, survived six match points before going down. LONDON TOURNAMENT
