Hulme wins first race (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) MOSPORT (Ontario). D. Huhne, of New Zealand, driving a McLaren MBF, has won the first race of the 10 in the Canadian-American Challenge Cup series for bigbore sports cars. Winning the 200-mile race earned Hulme SUSI3,OOO. The series carries prizes worth SUSIm. Hulme led the field of 26 for 71 laps of the 80-lap race around the course of two miles and three-quarters. He completed the 200-mile course in Ihr 48min 15.2 sec, with an average speed of 109.033 m.p.h. Hulme took the lead as the race started, but lost it to the Scotsman, J. Stewart, who held pole position, in the ninth lap. Stewart went out of the race in the eighteenth lap with transmission trouble.
