Robbery at gunpoint was fortunately rare in New Zealand, Mr Justice Roper said in the Wellington Supreme Court when he imposed a sentence °* four years gaol on William John Ross, aged 25, a barman, in respect of two charges of aggravated robbery and receiving stolen property. Ross, who had been committed to the Supreme Court for sentence, pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court to robbing the bar manager of the Wellington Hotel, Brian Louis Foster, while armed with a sawn-off .22 rifle on April 13, and of receiving clothing valued at $6O.
