Roydon Lodge sire to arrive soon

Tarport Coulter, a five-year-old stallion which arrived from the United States during the week-end, will leave Wellington tomorrow for the Roydon Lodge Stud at Yaldhurst. where he will take up stud duties. Tarport Coulter will be the fourth sire at Roydon Lodge. The other three there are Scot-
tlsh Hanover, Keystone Way and Ambro Hurricane. A brown horse, Tarport Coulter is by Thorpe Hanover (Imin 58 l-ssec) from Adios Betty (Imin 58 4-saec). Thorpe Hanover, a Tar Heel horse, has sired something like 18 2mln. runners Adios Betty was a sister to Captain Adios and was the first two-year-old filly to break two minutes for a mile. Adios Betty was also the dam of Tarport Lib, the world’s fast est pacing mare with a time of Imin 56 2-ssec and a sister to Tarport Coulter. Adios Betty has left three two-minute runners. Captain Adios, which stood at Roydon Lodge, was the sire of a number of top performers including Jay Ar, which shared an Inter-Dominion with Robin Dundee, Garcon d’Or, Great Adios (New Zealand Cup), Lyndhurst, and Yankee Dandy. Tarport Coulter was a good performer. He won 12 races as a two and three-year-old. At two he raced with distinction against top colts, including Laverne Hanover.
After his juvenile career, Tarport Coulter underwent a denerving operation in an ankle and returned to race as a three-year-old. consistently running around the 2min mark. He won 12 races in all and was 15 times placed.
