Wilkinson in squad
The former Christchurch United and Canterbury soccer representative, B. Wilkinson, is the only non-national league player named in the 19-man Wellington squad to play against Wales on June 30.
Wilkinson, who played 13 times for Canterbury and in all but three of United’s games last season, transferred to Wellington early this year. He did not make himself available for a national league club because of uni-
versify studies and joined Wellington-Diamond United in the Central League. However, it has been reported that'Wilkinson may switch to a national league flub next season and his name has been linked with the Hutt Valley side, Stop Out. In Auckland, five Northern League players have won selection in the provincial squad, named by the selectorcoach (Mr T. McNab), for the Welsh team’s opening match, at Newmarket Park on June 27.
The surprise omissions are J. Houghton (Mount Wellington), C. Campbell (Blockhouse Bay), and P. Jerman,
the Eastern Suburbs goalkeeper. The two squads are:
Wellington: Wilkinson; B. Niqol, K. Barton. D; Wallace, M. Watson, B. Baker, A. Jeffery (Western Suburbs); G. Petersen, M. Jones,’ I. Charlton. S. Boyland, G. Brand, D. Gendall (Stop Out); G.
