Lifeboats sold
tN.g. Pratt Aipociationh. WELLINGTON, May 30. Four lifeboats and two engines from the Wahine were,sold for a total of more than $4OOO within half an hour at the Union Steam Ship Company’s yard' at Evans Bay at the week-end. The prices reached, said the auctioneer, Mr D. Sloane, would be sure to delight the underwriters, Lloyds of London.
He said such high prices were not expected even though similar lifeboats would cost about $16,000 to make today.
