A 25-year-old Glamorgan all-rounder, R. Davis, was given the "kiss of life” on the field at Cardiff after he was struck on the jaw by a ball during the County cricket match against Warwickshire.
Davis, fielding dose to the bat at short leg, was felled by a hard shot from N. Abberley. He was knocked unconscious and received treatment from three doctors in the crowd. One of the doctors gave him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and he was carried from the pitch and rushed to hospital by ambulance. He was thought to have a skull fracture.
Some of the Glamorgan players said they thought the prompt action of the doctors on the pitch saved Davis’s life.
