Ten injured on roads
Road accidents caused injury to 10 persons in Christchurch at the week-end, although only five were still in hospital last evening. Three others were admitted to the ChrisU'-'irch Hospital on Saturday, but were discharged yesterday morning. The rest were treated and discharged. The first accident at the week-end occurred in the early hours of Saturday when two cars collided at the intersection of Montreal and Hereford Streets, injuring three.
Gordon Walter Mountfort, Agnes Rema Mountfort, and Stephen Marshall, all of 12 Speight Street, Shirley, were admitted to the Christchurch Hospital. Mr Mountfort, suffering serious head, chest and internal injuries, was in a fair condition in the resuscitation ward last evening. Mrs Mountfort was in a fairly comfortable cond'.ion, with moderately serious head and arm injuries.
Mr Marshall was admitted with head injuries, but was
discharged yesterday morning. Kaiapoi accident Brett Blazey, of 123 b Mackenzie Avenue, Woolston, suffered head injuries in an accident at Kaiapoi, and was discharged yesterday morning as was Christopher Love, of Hili Street, Seddon, who suffered head injuries when he fell from his motor-cycle after striking a kerb at the New Brighton car park on Marine Parade.
Edwin Evans, of 51 Twyford Street, Bumside, is in a satisfactory condition at Burwood Hospital with injuries suffered when the car in which he was travelling struck a power pole in Ferry Road at 4.10 a.m. on Saturday. Warwick Arthur Schultz, of 86 Warden Street, Shirley, was treated for head injuries at Christchurch Hospital, and discharged, after two cars collideo at the intersection of Warden Street and Stapletons Road, on Saturday. Two persons were injured, although not seriously, when the car in which they were travelling collided with another car in Stapletons Road on Saturday evening. Judith Ann Mcllroy and Nicholas James Mcllroy, of 8 Sawyers Arms Road, Bishoddale, were treated at the Christchurch Hospital for head injuries, and discharged.
Car hits pole Early yesterday morning Timothy Paul Heffernan, of No. 4 R.D., was knocked unconscious in an accident in Springs Road, Prebbleton. He was in a fairly comfortable condition at the Christchurch Hospital last evening. ' About 8.13 a.m. yesterday, David Blake, of 8 Stanford Street, Waimairi, suffered chest injuries when the car in which he was travelling struck a power pole in Avonside Drive. He was treated at the Christchurch Hospital and discharged.
Two persons were injured when the motor-cycle they were riding and a car collided in New Brighton Road about 6.30 p.m. Both John Sullivan, of 25 Carlsen Street, Burwood, and Sharon Petty, of 118 Chester Street, were treated for lacerations, and discharged. Graeme George Dron, of Beach Road, Kaiapoi, suffered head injuries when the car in which he was travelling and another collided in Kaiapoi about 8 pin. Mr Dron is in a satisfactory condition at the Christchurch Hospital.
