WASHINGTON, May 20. A spokesman for the Bangla Desh secessionist movement said in Washington that at least a quarter of a million East Pakistanis had been killed by troops since civil strife broke out in the region in March. Mr Rahman Sobhan, who said that he was chief economic adviser to Shiekh Mujibu. kahman, head of the Awami League, said that the Pakistan Army had destroyed villages as a matter of course d ig the action in East Pakistan.

In a prepared statement, Mr Sobhan said that Pakistani forces had used flamethrowers and napalm bombs extensively in action in East Pakistan.
