S.S.T. VOTE

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) WASHINGTON, May 20. The United States Senate has firmly rejected the Nixon Administration’s plan to revive the American supersonic airliner project, dealing it what may prove to be a death blow.

Last night’s vote, 58 to 37, gave opponents of the proposed rival to the Bri-tish-French Concorde and the Russian Tul44 a considerably wider margin than the original 51-46 Senate rejection of the SJS.T. on March 24.

In a subsequent vote, of 92 to 3, the Senate decided to make termination payments of SUSISSm to the manufacturers and airlines which had invested in the S.S.T.
